Hi all,

For those of you who don’t know me my names Chris Roberts and I am the Sports and Teams Officer for the upcoming year. I am very excited that you guys are here (or back if you’re a 2^nd/3^rd year) as myself and Maria (Societies and Activities Officer) have been chomping at the bit to have you back! For those first years I have not had the chance to say hello to let me say Welcome to Lincoln. Now on Wow what a few days. Three days into Fresher’s Week and what a few days it has been. We had a fantastic day today with the Clubs and Societies Fayre, lots of effort went in from all involved and it looks like it is going to be another successful year for the AU. I was thoroughly pleased for the emerging clubs and societies who did extremely well and will hopefully gain full status ASAP. The increase in clubs and societies is a credit to the students that we have here at the university increasing the activities students can get involved with. New clubs include Ultimate Frisbee and Baseball with an interest raised in the area of Origami.  What was also pleasing was the amount of individual athletes and swimmers we had approach the AU, and with our Elite Athlete Fund there to help them it looks like another year of sporting success is on the cards! Again let me extend a welcome to everyone and I hope to be commenting in the next issue about our early success!
