The Alternative Music Society welcomes students whose musical tastes are not considered mainstream; from Rock to Electronica and beyond. Over the coming year the society plans to promote alternative venues around Lincoln and to provide an outlet for those people who like alternative music.
The Break Dancing Society is a society dedicated, unsurprisingly, to the art of break dancing. It welcomes anyone who is interested in break dancing culture whether the music or dance side. All that is needed is a willingness to learn...oh and a disregard for bruising.
The Dance Society is new this year and offers a wide variety of classes from beginners to advance, hip-hop to jazz. Throughout the year the society plans to perform regularly, as well as competing alongside the cheerleading society in Semester B. Watch out for the Pep rally and Halloween show, they’re bound to knock your socks off.
The Live Music Society provides an opportunity for students with an interest in live music, being it playing or listening, to meet like-minded students. The society hopes to provide a meeting point for musically minded students looking for someone to jam with, as well as organising trips to local gigs and events.
The Drama Society is a vibrant and active society within the University of Lincoln and beyond having put on shows at the Edinburgh Festival. The society has also performed two well-loved pantomimes at the university and other venues around Lincoln. If you love to act or generally perform, this society is for you.
The Fire Arts Society is a Lincoln based group of performers specialising in circus skills and performances, with or without fire. The society provides both fire and glow performance, both of which utilise Staff, Poi, Diablo clubs and Devil sticks. If that’s not exciting enough, there is also fire breathing. The Fire Arts Society is keen to show off their knowledge so new members are always welcome.
