Week 1

The first major week of sports for the new freshers was a mixed bag of results, but a great start overall. With a few cancellations in rugby, most of the other teams got underway without a Hitch. Having gone to see a few games around campus I'm confident we will do well this year without a problem.

The nature of team of the week is that awards are given to the teams each week to note there performances. At the end of the year the points are added up and we have a team of the year. Last year the women's hockey 1st won it. Each week the winner is given 3 points, 2nd place 2 points, and finally third place 1 point. So keep an eye on this page to find out how your team is getting on. The winning team is presented with a trophy at the AU awards.

Highlights of this week were our Basketball team getting off to a flyer by beating Loughborough, mens football 2nds palming off Coventry to sustain their bid to become champions and hockey women's firsts, in their new league, winning 4-0. Well done guys.

3 points - Mens basketball 1st vs. Loughborough 2nds - 62-56 won

2 points - Mens football 2nds vs. Coventry 2nds - 5-1 won

1 point - Hockey women's 1st vs. Trent 2nds - 4-0 won.

Week 2 - 24.10.07

What a week!!! From a fairly 'normal' start to the season suddenly we have exploded onto the sporting scene once again. I was so impressed with the results rolling and rolling in, it was great to see. I only got to see badminton mens seconds and our hockey 2's vs the 3's, both great games. It was such a delight.

I know when teams have won because moments after the final whistle, I get a calls celebrating the victory. If the teams have lost…it's often very difficult to get an answer from captains. There are so many good results this week, that I've decided to give more teams more points, as I can't pick between people.

Rugby League vs. Leicester 28-8 won - 3 points

Women's football vs. Newman 21-0 won - 2 points
Mens football firstsvs. Loughborough 2-1 won - 2 points

Rugby union women's vs. Derby 22-10 won - 1 point
Rugby unions mens 2nds vs. Cranfield - 8-6 won - 1 point

Week 3 - 31.10.07

A somewhat slower week than last week yet we still had some great results. On the back of a great win for the football firsts, they travelled to Northumbria and brought back a well deserved 3 points with a 2-0 victory. Some great displays around campus and the rugby league kept up their unbeaten winning streak by triumphing over Warwick 1sts with a 30-26 victory. Volleyball women's recorded their first win of the season with a 3-1 win at Nott's Trent. The rugby union 1st team kept the pressure on the top of the table with a 31-14 win over Trent, a well deserved victory.

3 points - Volleyball women's vs. Trent - 3-1

2 points - Rugby League vs. Warwick 30-26

1 point - Rugby union mens vs Trent 31-14

Week 4 - 7.11.07

Another great week for all our teams. Around this time of year I make a concertive effort to study all the league tables to keep an eye on our progression. It's great to see that the majority of teams are in contention for titles, especially Rugby League, Rugby Union mens firsts, Football 1sts and 2nds to name but a few. Our new sides in BUSA for this year also are providing some good results. With the golf team introducing a new side, which are steadily getting good results, it's a pleasure to see such depth in talent. Every week, team of the week is proving to be a difficult thing to pick, as our performances seem to be so worthy of points. The following are the results of the week…

3 points - Hockey 1st vs. Central England 8-1 won 2 points - Rugby union men's 1st vs. Oxford Brookes 26-15 won 1 point - Women's football vs. Derby 11-0 won

Week 5 - 14.11.07

Another exciting day for Lincoln sport as we hit the mid season point. With many close encounters throughout the midlands today, we saw lots of home games this week. A big thanks goes to the rugby union and league teams for making me feel so welcome, it was a great day out at Newark. As we enter the business end of the season I can see that the university teams are really pilling on the pressure for the top places, then hoping to get into the championship finals. I would love to see an increase in teams this year in the finals, I'm sure we will get further this year due the amazing talent this year. Keep it up guys.

3 points - Badminton mens 1st vs. De Montfort 8-0 2 points - Tennis women's vs. Bedford 10-0 1 point - Rugby Union 2nds vs. Wolves - 22-14

Week 6 - 21.11.07

We are getting the to the stage in the season when work loads are becoming a massive problem in all our AU teams. With squads depleted due to deadlines, our teams had to cope with a tough week. I also notice that discipline wasn't at its highest with a few red cards littered around the games. Yet, our talent as ever prevailed and we achieved some great results throughout.

I know it's tough at the moment, but keep going, we are almost there and hopefully into the BUSA finals. The results of team of the week are as follows…

3 points Tennis Mens vs Leicester - 6-4 won
2 points Golf 1st team vs. Newcastle - 3.5-2.5 won
1 points Rugby league vs. Warwick - 38-6 won

Week 7 - 28.11.07

Another great sporting week, with wins in all disciplines on Wednesday. It's getting to the business end of the season and our talented teams are yet again excelling themselves. With only a few games left this season, points are paramount, as it could be the difference between winning or losing. The excellent results speak for themselves this week, so lets see how they got on…

3 points  - Women's volleyball vs. oxford brookes - 3-0 won
2 points - mens rugby union 2nds vs. east anglia - 7-6 won
1 point - Badminton mens 2nds vs wolves - 5-3 won

Week 8 - 5.12.07

Rainy horrible conditions all day affected the penultimate day of play before Christmas. As we enter the crucial part of the league season, one slip up can be oh so costly for our teams. Many teams cried off this week, meaning that lincoln experienced a lot of walkovers. It's a shame to win in such a way, but every point counts. The title for team of the year is hotting up, with only three more weeks of team of the week left, it's getting close to the decider for who will be crowned champions. Watch this space…

3 points - Women's hockey 1st vs. oxford Brookes - 4-1 won
2 points - Mens football 4ths vs. Nottingham - 3-0 won
1 point - Rugby league vs. Loughborough - 32 - 32 draw

Week 9 - 12.12.07

The penultimate week for sport on a full schedule basis is now complete. As we approach the end of the league stage of busa, we now see our teams really fighting for those final placing. With a slightly reduced schedule yesterday we still had some great results, showing that our teams are really pushing hard. It was difficult to pick this week, as we had a few great results…

3 points - Women's football vs. Derby - 8-0
2 points - Golf 1st vs. Durham 4-2
1 point - Mens football 3rds vs trent - 7-1
