SU Awards Evening – Thursday 2nd May
On Thursday 2nd May 2013 we are hosting an Awards Evening whereby students and staff are recognised for their hard work, dedication and making a difference.
This is your chance to nominate an individual who has gone that extra mile.
There are many areas in which students and staff can be nominated such as Volunteering, Sports or the Shaping my Future Award. Click on the link below for more information on the different award categories and nominate an individual to give them a chance to get the recognition they deserve.
The awards evening will take place on Thursday 2nd May 2013 in the Engine Shed, tickets will be issued by invitation only to the top nominees in each category and their guests.
Union Awards (Awards for Students)

The Volunteering Award
For students who have shown outstanding commitment to Volunteering. Perhaps you know someone who has committed significant time and effort to a project in the community or in the University, or someone who has initiated a new project or helped to develop an existing project. A student involved in volunteering who has gone above and beyond to make a significant difference. |

The Media Award
For students who have volunteered for the SU Media Team, who have shown outstanding commitment. Perhaps you know a member of this team who has committed significant time and effort to the development of one of the brands (online, tv, magazine) or who has worked to involve more students with the group, or has demonstrated skill or innovation or commitment in some other way. |

The Representation Award
For students who have shown outstanding commitment in representing the views of others. This award is for a student who has been an ambassador for students on their course or in their school or faculty. Perhaps you know a Student Rep who works tirelessly to involve students or build good communication with their course team or pursue change that benefits others. |

The Sports Award
For students who have shown outstanding commitment to Sports within the Students' Union. A team player or individual performer who has demonstrated excellent skill or committed significant time and effort to the development of themselves or others. Perhaps someone who has worked to improve things for all students who play sports or to involve more students in SU sports. |

The Societies Award
For students who have shown outstanding commitment to Societies within the Students' Union. An innovator or an involver, someone who has dedicated significant time and effort to the development Society/ies .Perhaps someone who has worked to bring Societies together, improve things for Societies, or involve more students in Societies. |
 |
The Roger Buttery Union Award (Students)
An award for students who have shown outstanding commitment in any area of work with the Students' Union. This award is for a student who has developed or innovated or communicated or involved in some way that does not fall within the categories above. An opportunity to nominate an unsung hero of the SU. |
Teaching Awards (Awards for Staff)

Inspiring Teaching Award
Awarded to a member of teaching staff whose teaching whether it is through style or content has inspired students to go beyond in the community, continue learning with postgraduate study or to achieve outstandingly in academic assessment. As part of their transformative impact on their student(s) the student as producer agenda should have been prominent in their work and an example should be given in the nomination. |

Professional Services Team Award
Awarded to the University’s professional services team that are constantly enhancing the student experience or offering a great standard of service. These teams can include; ICT, Library, Careers Service, Advice Service, Catering, etc. |

Love My Feedback Award
You tell us and the NSS you want better feedback; feedback that is clear and personalised so we want you to give us examples from this year of feedback that has been just that. Tell us how you have been able to use this good feedback to improve your next essay or exam. |
 |
The Union Award (Staff)
The outstanding achievement award for an individual member of staff who has consistently and passionately worked to enhance the experience of students, either over a longer period of time or during the year one a particular significant project. The member of staff can be a teacher, administrator or service provider as long as this person has positively impacted on the lives of others. |

Postgraduate's Choice Award
The University wants to grow the number of the postgraduate students studying here so we’re asking you the current students to tell us what the strengths of the offering we already have are so that we can build on those aspects and continue to improve the postgraduate experience as well as improve access. The winner of this award can either be a supervisor, administrator or member of a support service who makes a positive impact on the learners life. |

Shaping My Future Award
This award is for either an individual staff member or a specific course team who have employability on their agenda and are going the extra mile to offer careers advice/ expertise and ensure you are more confident about your skills as you look to go beyond university. |

Best Course Award
Taking into account the teaching quality, feedback and organisation of the course i.e timetable, deadlines and administrative support what has been your favourite course? Let us know what is so special about it and why has it inspired you to nominate it. Keep in mind that you should highlight things this course does which others could take on board to improve their offering. |
