► Role Descriptions - Part Time Officers
ALL FULL TIME AND PART TIME OFFICERS SHALL:-
1. Promote student representation, activities, development and participation in the Union and University;
2. Encourage cultural and social integration of all members of the Union;
3. Take all reasonable steps that they are aware of and ensure the Union’s constitution, schedules and policies, and relevant legislation are upheld in all the Union’s activities;
4. Comply with all elements of the Union’s, and where appropriate also the University’s, financial regulations;
5. Actively promote equal opportunities in the Union and work to eradicate all forms of harassment, discrimination, intimidation and oppression; and encourage participation in the Union from diverse and under-represented student groups;
6. Attend appropriate meetings and conferences and report back to Union Council and the membership;
7. Build and maintain good, professional and supportive working relationships with the other executive officers and all staff members of the Union & University;
8. Disseminate information to other officers, members and staff as appropriate; to ensure the whole team and student members are well informed;
9. Spend reasonable time at outlying sites & campuses so as to represent the view of students on these campuses and site;
10. Promote a positive image of the Union;
11. Assist in the recruitment of staff and to ensure the best interests of the Union and students are always paramount in this process;
12. Consider Union members in all decision making and actions, ensuring that the Unions’ activities have positive outcomes for members.
13. Design working projects that will improve extra-curricular opportunities for all students within the local community;
14. Participate in the development and implementation of the Union strategic plan as set down by Trustees;
15. Provide content information for website and publications;
16. Represent the views of students, not their own;
17. Proritise activities according to research about what members are saying is important to them;
18. Represent students views on project groups as appropriate;
19. Commit to their ongoing personal and professional development;
20. Attend executive committee and student council;
21. Ensure the Union conducts its affairs in a manner to reduce its impact on the environment and encourage stakeholders to do likewise.
Riseholme Officer
Support the President by -
- Attending Riseholme Campus committee
- Attending Riseholme Student Experience Committee
- Developing a network of contacts and using a range of communication methods to identify issues facing students at the campus.
- Feeding back student issues to the Executive team and Student Council and outcomes back to Students
- Liaising with the President as first point of contact for campus issues
Hull Officer
Support the President by -
- Attending Hull Campus committee
- Attending Hull Student Experience Committee
- Developing a network of contacts and using a range of communication methods to identify issues facing students at the campus.
- Feeding back student issues to the Executive team and Student Council and feedback outcomes back to Students
- Liaising with the President as first point of contact for campus issues
Holbeach Officer
Support the President by -
- Attending Holbeach Campus committee
- Developing a network of contacts and using a range of communication methods to identify issues facing students at the campus.
- Feeding back student issues to the Executive team and Student Council and outcomes back to Students
- Liaising with the President as first point of contact for campus issues
Campaigns Officer
Support the President by -
- Supporting the development of a Campaigns Team
- Encouraging and inspiring students to develop their own campaigns
- Attending campaigning events
Liberation Officer
Support the VP Welfare by -
- Working with the VP Welfare and Diversity to support diverse student groups including:
- BME
- LGBT
- Disabled Students
- Gender Liberation Groups
- Developing a network of contacts and using a range of communication methods to identify issues facing these student groups.
- Representing Student issues to Executive and Council and feeding back outcomes to students
- Being involved in the ongoing development of liberation committees and societies
Community Action & Student Fundraising Officer (RAG)
Support the VP Welfare by -
- Encouraging and inspiring students to raise money for charity
- Supporting the raising of the profile of Students’ contribution to the community
- Attending community events where appropriate
- Supporting the VP Welfare and Diversity in developing the concept of RAG
Sports Officer
Support the VP Activities by -
- Supporting Clubs by attending games and events
- Feeding back to VP Activities issues raised by clubs
- Working with VP Activities to develop Sports Council
- Representing student views on project groups as appropriate
- Seeking to raise the profile of Sport at the University of Lincoln
- Encouraging students to set up new clubs/teams
Societies Officer
Support the VP Activities by -
- Supporting Societies by attending meetings and events
- Feeding back to VP Activities issues raised by societies
- Working with VP Activities to develop Societies Council
- Representing student views on project groups as appropriate
- Seeking to raise the profile of Societies at the University of Lincoln
- Encouraging students to set up new Societies
Events Officer
Support the VP Activities by -
- Gathering student opinion, from students of diverse backgrounds and interests, related to Union events.
- Representing student opinion to project groups, the Executive team and others as appropriate
- Being a member of Events project groups
- Working with the VP Activities and staff team on the development of Union events.
