Since my email to you all on Monday about BlackBoard, we have received a further update this evening, which I wanted to share with you all as soon as possible.
As you will be aware, the University is experiencing a number of technical issues with its Blackboard virtual learning environment this week. Staff here are working closely with the software provider and doing all they can to resolve the problems. I am sorry that currently, we cannot guarantee when the system will be fully up and running in a stable state. Please be assured that your teaching and learning is our utmost priority and whilst I am grateful for your patience I would like to reassure you that we are putting in place a range of interim measures to reduce any inconvenience for you:
· Learning resources - Teaching staff will be using alternative methods, particularly email, to share learning resources with students, so please check your University email account regularly for course materials and updates.
· Student assessments - Any assessments with deadlines between the 21 September and the 29 September will be extended until the 6 October. You will receive further instructions about assessments, including new deadlines, directly from your module co-ordinator or the School office.
· Timetables - The timetabling element of Blackboard is unaffected by the current technical problems. Please continue to check your timetable to ensure you are using the latest version of your weekly schedule. You should also have received an email with a link to your timetable. If you have not received this, please contact your school office.
· Extenuating Circumstances - In the absence of full access to Blackboard, students can submit EC’s should be submitted via the portal https://ps.lincoln.ac.uk/services/registry/Assessments/RecordsandAssessments/extenuatingcircumstances/SitePages/Home.aspx).
I will continue to work with the relevant University departments which oversee Blackboard to resolve the current issues, and I will send you any further updates as they are confirmed.
