QUACK! wins national award!
Lincoln SU clubnight and Ents Manager receive awards

posted 7th April 2017 at 9:00am

Your weekly Students’ Union party, QUACK!, has been voted ‘Best Regular Club Night’ at this year’s national Ents Forum awards.

On Thursday 6th April, staff from Lincoln SU’s Entertainment team headed out west to Cardiff to attend the prestigious event which, since its launch in 2013, now attracts over 150 delegates from SU’s across the UK and Ireland.

The evening, hosted by BBC Radio 1 DJ, Scott Mills, praises Students’ Unions and celebrates the successes of the best student bars and venues across the country. Michael Redpath (Entertainments Manager) and Gemma Smart (Front of House and Events Co-ordinator) attended the event in which both your favourite clubnight, QUACK!, and Michael were nominated for the ‘Best Regular Club Night’ and the ‘Rising Star’ award.

It is with great pleasure to announce that your Students’ Union were announced as winners in both categories, in front of a venue packed with national talent.

James Brooks, Lincoln Students’ Union CEO, says:

“For Quack to win this in only its third year when up against some very established nights in the sector is amazing news and just shows the reputation that the SU and Engine Shed are getting within the sector."

Sammi Storey, Lincoln Students’ Union President, says:

“This a great achievement for the Students' Union, it really goes to show that Lincoln students are getting the best experience both inside and outside of the classroom. We're excited to ride on this success and keep giving you, the students, the best club nights in the country."

After receiving his award, Entertainments Manager, Michael Redpath says:

“It’s a privilege to be able to do the job that I do; being able to put on a wide range of events that are loved by the students of Lincoln. However to be recognised for this on a national scale by industry experts is absolutely fantastic.”

We’d like to extend thanks to all who voted, and everyone who attended on the night. There really was some worthy competition, and Lincoln SU is humbled by the recognition it has received.
