The Mature Students Committee is a standing committee and led by a volunteer officer known as the ‘Mature Students Officer’, who is elected during a campus wide election.

Mature Students Officer will be supported by an internally elected committee and be responsible for the Mature Committee and the representation of mature students at the University.

The Mature Students Officer is also a voting member of Student Council, which takes places once a month.  

The Mature Students Committee is responsible to Student Council and Vice President Welfare & Community, Brian Alcorn.

The aims of the Mature Students Committee are

  • to provide a safe and supportive community for mature students at the University
  • offer support to other mature students
  • represent views of their members to the Students’ Union and University
  • ensure equal opportunities and zero tolerance policy
  • organise campaigns to increase awareness of mature students’ issues
  • promote links with other similar groups and organisations, within the local community, regional area and nationally
  • raise funds to support these aims

There are two types of memberships availabl

  • full membership, which is open to all mature students and those who have an interest in mature student issues.
    You must be a member of the Students' Union.
  • associate membership for people who have an interest in mature student issues.
    You must be an associate member of the Students' Union.

Postgraduate students can get involved too, but for academic representation please email reps@lincolnsu.com.

Meetings of the Mature Students Committee shall take place at least bi-weekly.
