    About Us

    Volunteering

There are many reasons why you might be interested in volunteering, and even more ways that you can get involved.

Whether you are interested in, and care about your local community, feel passionately about a cause, or want to volunteer with a well established charity or community organisation we can make this happen for you.

Alternatively you may want to volunteer within the Students’ Union – maybe as a committee member for a sports club or society, or as an SU Helper, or maybe even as an SU Officer. Again come and see us so that we can get you started.

Volunteering in any way is a rewarding and valuable experience, both personally and professionally. In a time when getting a job is increasingly difficult, volunteering provides you with the opportunity to develop, learn new skills and make sure you stand out from the crowd. Oh, and volunteering is a lot of fun too!

    Investing in Volunteers

    Investing in Volunteers

ULSU Volunteering are delighted to announce that we have recently achieved the Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard, recognising the excellent work we do with volunteers.

Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for all organisations involving volunteers. IiV aims to improve the quality of the volunteering experience for all volunteers and for organisations to acknowledge the enormous contribution made by volunteers.

We were assessed against a range of best practice standards and proved to excel in all aspects of working with our volunteers.Volunteer Student Reps and Student Officers as well as SU staff who support volunteers were interviewed as part of the final assessment.

    The Lincoln Award

    Lincoln Award

Every year the number of graduates is increasing and the competition is getting tougher. Employers are looking for candidates who stand out from the crowd and who have developed their skills, abilities and ambitions – a degree is no longer enough to get you the job you want.

Volunteering is one of the core activities that you can use in order to complete the Lincoln Award - an achievement award focused on employability skills.
