Whizz-Kidz is looking for bright and enthusiastic volunteers to assist us in the delivery of our Wheelchair Skills Training programmes for young wheelchair users. These programmes teach kids new skills and provide vital lessons on road safety. This is a great opportunity for kids to get together and have fun, developing their confidence and increasing their independence as a result. Volunteers are there to encourage the kids to get involved and give things a go, acting as their ‘buddy’ on the day. WST programmes take place across the UK at various times of the year. Each scheme is held over a period of 3 – 5 days, times vary. The more days the volunteers are able to make, the more they will get out of it as they are able to see the kids change first hand.
We are also looking for volunteers to help out our Life Skills Training and Ambassador Clubs we run across the UK. Similar to above, volunteers are asked to motivate and encourage the participants to get involved, helping with literacy needs and providing support. These roles would ideally suit someone who is studying to become an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, speech therapist, social worker, teacher, however this is not a necessary requirement
Availability
Clubs run 6 times a year in each location, from 9.30 – 3pm.
