    Care Home Volunteer Tasks:

    • 5 Homes in Lincoln
    • 16 in total in Lincolnshire

    Support and supervision:
    Full support given, volunteers work very closely with the activity co-ordinators in the homes.

    Personal qualities and requirements:
    Time and patience are valuable assets for our volunteers.

    Independent Age

    Independent Age helps older people on low incomes to live with dignity and peace of mind in their later years.

    Assessing Volunteers – a role that requires the volunteer to be able to ask quite personal questions of an older person as we need to assess their financial and care needs, but it would provide good experience for someone considering a career in social care where this kind of evaluation is common.

    EnergyRight advisor

    Title of role:
    1. Marketing and Promotions
    2. Energy Assessor

    Tasks:
    1. Marketing and Promotions
    To help run marketing events at various locations (e.g. libraries, supermarkets). These aim to identify prospective elderly clients for energy advice and additional help for grant applications.
    2. Energy Assessor
    To visit older people in their homes to find out basic information about their energy usage and schemes in place e.g. loft insulation. The information is then referred back to e-on where further help can be given.

    Availability

    Ideally an EnergyRight volunteer needs to be able to provide 2-4 hours per week, though not necessarily every week.

    WRVS 

    Emergency Services Support

    By joining one of our emergency response teams, you can help to support victims of emergencies and disasters.

    Researcher Tasks:

    To engage local older people in discussions about what they need to remain in control of their lives by:

    • Planning interview questions for good evaluation with a representative from WRVS and a University Tutor
    • Deciding the size of the sample, who and where to interview people
    • Interviews
    • Analysing the results of the interviews with other volunteer researchers
    • Presenting the findings and recommendations to WRVS Representatives, University Tutor and University Volunteer Co-ordinator

    Availability

    This is a three month project which will involve interviewing 10 people and feeding the information into a central meeting. 3 hours each week for 12 weeks.
