    We have over 100 different volunteering roles available which can be done from home, based at an RNIB Group office or out and about in the community.

    Our volunteers play a vital role in a variety of different positions by donating their time, skills, and energy.

    We have over 999 volunteers working either in the In-patient Unit and any one of our 19 charity shops and in fundraising.

    Title of role: Retail Volunteer

    Tasks: To provide an excellent quality of customer service to members of the public who purchase from and donate to our shops. To represent and pass on information about the St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice services and to help the Retail Department raise funds to support the work of the Hospice.

    Location: Lincoln High Street

    Support and supervision: The shop manager is responsible for the shop induction of volunteers, training and ongoing supervision. There is a legal and mandatory requirement that all volunteers undertake Health and Safety and Manual Handling Training, which will be arranged.

    Personal qualities and requirements:
    • Reasonable level of literacy and numeracy
    • Reliability, commitment and punctuality
    • Able to work as part of team and be understanding, patient and respectful of other volunteers and shops employed staff
    • To be willing to participate in all aspects of the shop role including cleaning, hygiene and Health and Safety requirements
    • Customer service and communication skills

    Availability: One half day per week. Shop is open 7 day each week.

    Could you be the difference between a life lost and a life saved?

    We need volunteers to help us reduce unnecessary deaths.

    Our first aid volunteers (LINKS for students in higher education) are a familiar sight at community events, and we also have vacancies on our community programmes and for support roles in areas such as fundraising, PR, volunteer support and logistics.

    Or perhaps you feel you could inspire young people to new heights? We need youth leaders to lead our programmes for 5-10 (Badgers), 10-16 (Cadets) and 16-25 year-olds.
