People volunteering at woodside get experience in handling a wide range of animals (sloths, lemurs, snakes, lizards, birds of prey, rats, marmosets, meerkats, prarie dogs, tropical birds) and also interact with the general public. We help build the exhibits and keep the animals clean. Very hard work, can also be very smelly, but it's also really fun and rewarding.
We start at 8am at Woodside and can leave at any point, so it's flexible, though the park itself shuts at 5pm.
We've been arranging lifts, although this seems to have come to a halt so anyone with a car would be much appreciated, and we do pay petrol.
Buses can be caught from lincoln bus station. Number 6 to Skegness, destination Langworth, leaves at 7am, 5.30 return ticket.
