SUggestions

The ideas below have been submitted by members of the student body. If you think the idea is great and should be implemented, please vote up this idea. If you do not like the idea, you can vote the idea down. This is one way that you can influence what your Students’ Union does!

You can add comments to each idea if you have a question about the idea, or even have an idea about how the suggestion can be improved!

Before an idea is put live it is reviewed by the Union Chair and Chair of the Board of Trustees. There are a number of reasons an idea may not be put to vote, which are outlined in the Students’ Union Bye-Laws. These include:

• The resource or cost implications of the idea (e.g. if the Students’ Union or University would not be able to afford to implement the idea; if the level of staff resource that would be warranted to implement the idea is too high; or there is physically insufficient resources such as required space)
• The reputation of the Union (e.g. if an idea is not of a suitable nature to enable the SU to uphold its standards, values and image. This includes protecting the reputation of the Union in what it is able to realistically do. If the Chair and the President believe that it is not possible to deliver the SUggestion should it get 50 votes, then the idea will not be put to vote, and the submitter of the SUggestion informed as to the reasons why.)
• The governance/responsibilities of the Union (e.g. if an idea goes against the SU bye-laws, Articles of Association, Charity Law, the Charity Commission, or other UK laws etc.)

Once an idea receives 50 votes it will be assigned to a Student Leader, who will investigate how the idea can be implemented, and will work to get changes made, where possible.
