Your SU is the home of sports teams, societies, academic societies and RAG (Raise and Give) at the University of Lincoln. Supported by your VP Activities, there are over 150 different groups to get involved with, so we have something for everyone. There are so many reasons to get involved with an activity whilst at Uni; keep reading to find out more…and join our We Are Lincoln community.

Supported by the Sports Officer, your SU sports clubs cover nearly every sport possible – Football, Swimming, Cheerleading, Netball, Rugby (Union, League and Touch!), Ultimate Frisbee, and Mountaineering to name a few.

Many of our teams take part competitions locally and nationally, including in BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport), with fixtures held throughout the year. However, there are also opportunities to train and play sports socially.

Societies are the best way to meet like-minded people, whilst bonding over an interest that you all share. From Harry Potter to Musical Theatre, Streetwear to City Pubs – there is a society to suit everyone’s taste! Societies run events, trips and more to take your University experience to the next level. The Societies Officer supports societies to give their members the best experience possible.

Academic Societies

Academic Societies exist to allow you to get more from your degree and academic experience whilst studying at Lincoln. Run by students and supported by your Course, Academic Societies organise guest lectures, discussion events and social study groups to help you get ahead in your academic field. The Academic Societies Officer, VP Education and VP Activities work extensively with the University to provide amazing educational opportunities to members.

RAG (Raise and Give)

The RAG Officer oversees fundraising events and initiatives across the year, supported by the RAG Society Committee. All the money raised goes to charities. Anyone can take part in fundraising, but we particularly love to see sports teams, societies and academic societies working together to support a cause.

Sports Officer

Hello! I am Kat and I am your Sports Officer for 2020/21. This is now my fourth year studying at the university, and I have been a member of the Lincoln Jets Cheerleading team for three years. Sports teams can get in contact with me for any reason, and I will be working closely with both the VP Activities, Abi Brown, and the Activities Team to ensure your sporting experience is the best it can be! I recognise that this year may be very different for our current sports teams and an uncertain year for our new members, however, one of my main aims this year is to be available to guide, answer questions and support every sports team in regards to training, competing, BUCS and any other aspect of your sporting experience! Let's keep the WE ARE LINCOLN community strong together!

Societies Officer

Hi all! I’m Becka and I am a 3rd year Law student and your Societies Officer for 2020/21. This year I will be working closely with Abi, the VP Activities, to ensure that all societies are fully supported through these uncertain times! Feel free to contact me with any queries you may have surrounding societies. One of my main aims for this year is to ensure that all committee members receive detailed training and support before the academic year begins. This is to ensure that societies feel that they are able to start the academic year on the right foot despite the current challenges! I can’t wait to make an active positive change to societies and keep the WE ARE LINCOLN community strong!

Academic Societies Officer

Hi everyone, I'm James and I'll be your Academic Societies Officer for 2020/21! Some of you may know me last year from running the Terrible Film Society, running for VP Education in the SU Elections, or being the School Rep for Social and Political Sciences. I'm really keen to use what I've learned in those three things to help Academic Societies wherever possible! One of the things I really want to focus on this year is making sure all Academic Societies can host events and work closely with their School or Program, and I'll be working closely with both the VP Activities and VP Education to make sure this is as easy as possible for committees! I'm always happy to help with any questions or queries you might have, so message or email me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!
