Peace Be Upon You, The University of Lincoln Students' Union Islamic Society (Lincoln ISoc) would like to take this opportunity to offer you a wholehearted welcome to the University of Lincoln, its Committee Members wish you peace, prosperity and success for the year ahead. The Lincoln ISoc is a student led charity which exists to support, empower and represent the Muslim student body. The Society works to propagate an accurate message of Islam amongst Muslims and Non – Muslims; it strives to eradicate ignorance and misconceptions that may be present, which, in turn, will help both Muslims and Non-Muslims, increase their understanding of Islam. The Society aims to increase unity amongst Muslim students and continues to promote cohesion between the University of Lincoln’s diverse populations. The Lincoln ISoc encourages membership from those interested in our purpose. You do not have to be a student or member of staff at the University of Lincoln to become a Member. Members from the local area are welcome. So if you’re interested in the above, please, do not hesitate to become a member at the earliest opportunity. Annual membership is only £5. You can register for membership online here or by visiting the Students' Union based in the Engine Shed. Remember to take your Student Identity Card! The Society's Committee has been working extremely hard over the summer to organise a number of events and activities over the year. we have Weekly Friday Afternoon Prayers, Weekly Wednesday Evening Study Socials, and Sunday Afternoon Football. There also Saturday Evening Games Nights and Sunday Evenings Film Presentations which are held weekly. Annually we also oraganise Eid Celebrations, Charity Week in October on behalf of Islamic Relief UK, Discover Islam Week i February, and finally at the end of the year an awards Awards Night. There's also a continuing campaign for a purpose built Prayer Room and much, much more ahead. The Committee Members regularly check our email account, so if you have any question, compliment, or complaint whatsoever, please do not hesitate to get in touch. If you like to offer daily prayers, there is the Witham House Interfaith Centre available at the University, which is located opposite the University of Lincoln Sports Centre on the Brayford Campus site. The Interfaith Centre offers a place for silent, individual meditation and prayer for both Brothers & Sisters. Washing facilities for ablution are also available on the same floor. There is also a recently added library we hope you find useful for research. The Islamic Society would like to emphasise that this is an Interfaith Centre, intended to be used by people of all faiths and beliefs. Any contributions to the library which you are able to provide will be graciously accepted.
