DofE Skill

Completing the Skills section of DofE is all about you.

There are literally hundreds of different ways to complete this section. What is it that really gets your gears turning? What secret passion has you flared up enough to power a hot air balloon?  Perhaps you want to learn to play an instrument, learn to drive, or speak a new language? Do you want to be the next big thing in Italian cooking? Or perhaps becoming a wildlife photographer and travelling around the globe?

You’ll find loads of ideas on the DofE’s website including 10 broad areas that you might want to consider.

Still short on ideas?

If you still need some inspiration you can find many more detailed ideas within each of those 10 sections below.

Requirements for Skills section

To achieve Gold, you must commit 18 months to the Phsyical and Skills section. You can choose how to divide the months between the sections in 6 and 12 month blocks. For example, you can commit 6 months to Physical, and 12 months to Skill. Or 6 months to Skill and 12 months to Physical.

Those who have not yet achieved their Silver Award and wish to go straight to Gold will have to provide a further 6 months to the section of their choosing. For example, you could commit 6 months to Skills, and 18 months to Physical. Or 12 months to both.
