We know that sometimes it’s hard to make new friends, especially if you have moved abroad. Your Students’ Union wants to help!
Your Students’ Union runs two schemes available for international students to support them both with their transition into University and whilst studying at University, the Pen Pal Scheme and the International Buddy Scheme. For more information on either of these, please contact your Vice President International at [email protected].
Pen Pal Scheme
The Pen Pal Scheme allows an international student with a confirmed offer at the University of Lincoln to be matched with a current University of Lincoln student. A current student will receive the name and email address for the incoming student and allow them to start a conversation, talk about student life and be a support for the international student.
We are currently looking for current students to become a Pen Pal! If you are interested, please contact [email protected].
International Buddy Scheme
Once international students are on campus, both international and local students can sign up to be an international buddy. This scheme is an opportunity to link international and local students together to share experiences, attend International Students’ Association (ISA) Hubs and to make friends whilst potentially learning about different cultures!
The ISA hold Hubs once a month, find out more information about ISA and their plans by joining their Facebook group here.
When the scheme is open and we are ready to intake new buddies, you can sign up via the Volunteering page here, either as a local student or an international student.
