Part-time

As a Customer Care Assistant, think of yourself as the face of your restaurant. In a nutshell, you'll deal with customers and make sure everything runs as it should in the customer areas. Activities include making children feel welcome, handing out balloons, looking after customers' specific needs, keeping high standards of cleanliness in the dining area and toilets and helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's your responsibility to establish and maintain positive communication with customers at all times and to keep the manager informed about customer satisfaction.

You may also take part in the planning and implementation of children's parties, coffee mornings, children's competitions and other special events organised by your restaurant.

A franchised restaurant is a restaurant operated by a local business person trading under the McDonald's name. Currently over half of our restaurants in the UK are franchised but from a customer point of view there's no difference.

Position Requirements

Quite simply, you'll be working in our fast moving, high energy environment and we’re looking for a genuine smile plus an ability to connect with customers and make them feel valued.

Position Attributes

You’ll need to be confident in approaching and dealing with diverse groups of people. Friendly, courteous and helpful behaviour will come naturally to you and you’ll work well as part of a team. You’ll also need to understand the importance of maintaining high standards of service as well as cleanliness. The ability to maintain high energy levels whilst working both efficiently and productively is essential. Finally, your appearance should be smart and clean.

Pricecheck
Description

Have you ever wondered how the discount retailers manage to stock the well known brands at a bargain price?  How the online prices can differ so much to the same product available in stores?

In the lively and competitive FMCG arena, Pricecheck has long established relationships with many brand owners and major suppliers, sourcing key branded lines which we then sell on to a range of different outlets.  We understand business – we buy and sell quality product, whilst understanding the market and getting to know exactly what our customers want.  This simple and driven approach has seen us develop trade in over 75 countries as we continue to explore new categories, markets and territories.

And we’re getting it right too – we were awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, High Growth Business of the Year at the Sheffield Business Awards 2017 and Export Business of the Year in 2015 as well as being recognised in The Sunday Times International Track 200.

We buy thousands of product lines from hundreds of suppliers – we never know where the next deal will take us, making for a fast paced, ever changing and exciting place to work and we’re on the lookout for an undergraduate student to join our trading team for their year in industry.

What you’ll be doing

Depending upon your skills, interests and future career aspirations, you may find yourself working as part of the Sales or Business Development teams:

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Working as part of the wider Trading team, you will be helping to identify new opportunities, customers and suppliers to take the business further through thorough research, business feedback and applying your inquisitive approach.  Seeing this research through to fruition, you will share your findings with the team to then monitor, accurately record and chase feedback, all managed through our CRM and bespoke account systems.

You will be providing support to the Business Development and Sales teams, especially in activities relating to account management and coordinating relevant updates to the CRM system - producing the resulting management information and reports as required.  As your understanding of Pricecheck and our internal systems grows, you will be central in reviewing processes and developing the reporting available, enabling you to see first hand how your efforts are helping to shape the future growth of the company.

SALES DEVELOPMENT

Working alongside an expanding team of sales representatives, you will be providing robust administrative support to ensure that the team are best placed to focus on trading and making the most of the sales opportunities available.  As our export markets continue to grow, you will take guidance from those around you to pull together price lists and offers for our sales team to send on to our customers, help to prepare for meetings and be a whizz at systems administration.  You will help to chase paperwork from customers when needed, and provide cover for holidays and when the Sales teams are overseas or out on the road.  In this fast paced role, you will also work with the Business Development team, in researching new territories and prospective customers to help direct focus weeks and sales activity.

Gaining this solid understanding of the processes behind the scenes, combined with your interest in the industry and sales as a function, could also be an ideal starting position for those with an interest in sales as a future career.

Given that our placements are 15 months long, you will be learning the ropes from our current placement students, and then becoming the mentors and passing on your knowledge and experience to the students who then follow on from you in the next placement year.

What we’re looking for

With so much going on, you need to be sharp, smart with an eagerness to learn – we ask that you be studying towards a business related degree with strong A levels (or the associated equivalent) and at least a grade B in GCSE Maths and English.  However, we look for more than just academic achievements of our team.  Show us that you have entrepreneurial spirit, an interest in trading and enthusiasm for working - we would love to hear more from you.

You will be a confident communicator and work with clarity, with the tenacity to see activity through to completion.     You will be an organised and logical thinker, operating at pace and under pressure, whilst not sacrificing quality and accuracy.  Your commercial approach will ensure that your efforts are well placed, and your analytical skills will be challenged daily.  You will see the importance of attention to detail, yet awareness for the bigger picture and keen to understand how business works in practice.

As we trade internationally, we’re keen to hear from people who have language skills or experience of living and working overseas but these are not essential.

How you’ll do it

Following an in depth induction where you will spend time with all areas of the business, you will be working with our existing placement students and the wider team in getting to know our systems, processes, products and industry as part of your on the job training.  Given how varied all the roles are, you will thrive in a dynamic and ever changing environment, be a natural multi-tasker and be motivated by seeing all the pieces of the puzzle coming together.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting into the Head of IT, you will be part of the team supporting a busy trading business and assisting in the development of ongoing technologies.

Whilst there is no thing as a typical day, your duties will range from supporting users and maintaining established systems, to developing new programmes and helping to build new business solutions.   You will be confident in designing and updating SQL reports and work closely with the Head of IT to enhance bespoke systems using Microsoft and IOS technologies.  You will learn the skills to identify where technology can enhance rather than restrict a business and work through the build, test and implementation phases of IT related projects.  You will be liaising with other departments throughout the organisation to integrate IT solutions and provide varied assistance and support, gaining an appreciation that IT is much more than just computer screens and keyboards.

And we’re getting it right too – we were awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, High Growth Business of the Year at the Sheffield Business Awards 2017 and Export Business of the Year in 2015 as well as being recognised in The Sunday Times International Track 200.

We buy thousands of product lines from hundreds of suppliers – we never know where the next deal will take us, making for a fast paced, ever changing and exciting place to work and we’re on the lookout for undergraduate students to join our finance team for their year in industry.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting into the Management Accountant, you will be central in the day to day smooth running of finance related administration.  You will carry out multiple roles in rotation during your placement year to ensure full exposure to the finance function and variety of task.  These activities may include sales order entry and invoicing, cash management and collating information to help complete management accounts.  You will assist in the preparation and production of export documentation and seek out better ways of doing things, whilst learning from those around you and becoming a central and invaluable member of the team.

Additionally, you may also work alongside the Buying team to be their financial and administrative support.  Using our bespoke systems, you will be creating, updating and maintaining product records to provide an accurate representation of the stock we hold.  You will get to know the stock inside out – from accurate purchase order entry, stock photography, product analysis and descriptions.  You will also be liaising with other departments throughout the organisation to facilitate sample coordination, enquiring into new product arrivals and overseeing quality control, gaining an appreciation that finance is much more than just calculators and number crunching.

Given that our placements are 15 months long, you will be learning the ropes from our current placement students, and then becoming the mentors and passing on your knowledge and experience to the students who then follow on from you in the next placement year.

What we’re looking for

With so much going on, you need to be sharp, smart with an eagerness to learn – we ask that you be studying towards a business related degree with strong A levels (or the associated equivalent).
