An Update Regarding Abi, VP Activities. image

Abi, your VP Activities will be leaving her post before the end of her term to pursue a new career opportunity.

Her last day will be the 19th February. The SU will be sad to see her go, but are proud to see Abi move forward using the skills and passion she has gained at the University of Lincoln and in her role at the SU.

Abi has the following message for students:

I have been lucky enough to be offered my first steps in a career, in marketing, to begin at the end of February and so I can’t believe I am writing to tell you that my journey at the SU is coming to an end. As I write this, I think back on the last 18 months and how I owe so much to Lincoln Students’ Union and the University of Lincoln. Back in September 2019, I introduced myself to all of the Sports and Societies Committees for the first time during Freshers week and felt proud (and slightly terrified) that this amazing community of students had chosen me to represent and lead it.

Since then, our We Are Lincoln community has grown and developed together, taking on numerous challenges on the way. Some stand-out memories include: my ever Quack! as VP, attending over 100 taster sessions in Freshers Week, 8 Out of 10 Swans, the Lincoln Together Campaign, monthly Hub meetings, speaking on behalf of students in the University’s Sports Board and attending BUCS Conference. I wanted this opportunity to offer my thanks to everyone, students and staff, who helped make these events so memorable.

2020 has definitely been more of a challenge with Varsity, Tour, and the BUCS season being cancelled and all of our activities transferring to online engagement. I want to say well done and thank you to all of our sports, societies and academic societies who have been so innovative, understanding and flexible with the guidance that has constantly changed over the last year. This has highlighted the importance of our student-led activities, the support we can provide one another and how vital they are to the mental, physical and social wellbeing of students.

I want to also say a huge thank you to two years of working alongside my incredible Volunteer Officers. To Rhys, Harry and Lexy last year and to Kat, James, Becka and Jacob this year. You constantly impress me with you spark, imagination and drive to create a better student experience at Lincoln. I will miss working with you so much.

My role as Vice President Activities has been much more than a job, it has been my life and as I have a couple of tears (a couple is a lie my face is wet) writing this. I am so excited to see where my future takes me, but also proud have been a part of an amazing, hard-working team of students and staff who make Lincoln SU so special and invaluable to Lincoln students.

Thank you for all of the incredible memories. All my love and please stay in touch, Abi :)

In line with the Students’ Union Bye-Laws, the Board of Trustees have decided that the remaining Student Leaders will continue as a team of four and will work together to support and guide Abi’s network of students and represent students on issues related to the VP Activities remit.
