Last year, your SU hosted its first ever Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award launch event, to celebrate the opportunity for students to get involved in the renowned award right here on campus.
Since then we have enrolled over 20 students on the programme to start their journey towards the gold! But don’t worry if you missed the launch, there’s still time to get involved.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award is an amazing opportunity to take part in adventures, learn new skills, meet new people and gain a renowned Award that is recognised by employers.
You can get involved in hundreds of different activities in the physical section, such as canoeing, golf, trampolining, football, rugby, karate and much more. You can then develop skills in engineering, IT, animal care, singing, conservation or whatever you’re interested in. Followed by volunteering in areas such as animal welfare, charities, teaching and more. We work with you to choose and plan what activities you’d like to do.
If you want to stand out to employers, The Duke of Edinburgh award is a fantastic addition to your CV, and can make all the difference during the application process. The award is highly valued by future employers. Your employability prospects are broadened from completing the DofE, as you get to develop your Work Ready skills through volunteering, physical and skills activities, an expedition and a residential.
As well as improving your employability chances, you have the opportunity to develop your mind, body and soul, in an environment of social interaction and team working. You get to meet new people and learn new skills as well as having fun!
