Following their incredible actions and hard work this year, your University of Lincoln Hockey Club (ULHC) and RAG (Raise and Give) Campaigns group have been nominated for NaSFA awards.
In December of this year, the University of Lincoln Hockey Club showed inspirational solidarity during their hockey match in aid of Candles and the Lucie Blackman Trust. This match has won them a nomination for Event of the Year alongside 4 other nominees. We could not think of an event more deserving of this award. It represents the community, friendship, strength and love that lies at the heart of the student population. We are so proud of you all. A ULHC representative had a few words to say about the charity match.
"ULHC is a family above all else and the charity match started as just a time and place for our family to come together and support each other amid the chaos. As the news about Grace broke, every inch of the We Are Lincoln community reached out in support and the match became a chance for us to feel supported by a wider community and do some good. With the on the day donations and the JustGiving page, we managed to raise almost £6,500.
"We are shocked and so grateful to be nominated for this national award and hope everything we do in the future makes the world a little less scary, every person must keep dreaming and keep travelling." #HerLightOurLove
In addition to UoL Hockey Club's nomination, we also received the amazing news that Lincoln RAG Campaigns Group were nominated in the category of Most Improved Student Fundraising Group. Lincoln RAG has seen a meteoric year this year. Through collaborations with societies, student-led projects and sports teams, your RAG group have raised an amazing £27, 181.66 in one year!!! This has far surpassed our expectations. The determination, drive and collaboration we've witnessed among the RAG group is heart-warming. They have truly helped make a difference in the world, as have all of you who have donated or supported them along the way. To you all, we say thank you.
Your RAG Officer 2018/19 also has a few words to say:
"All of the RAG team are very honoured to be shortlisted for the 'Most Improved Fundraising Group' award and really believe it demonstrates how much progress we've made as a Campaigns Group this year. As RAG Officer, I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the RAG committee, Student Led Projects, Campaigns Network Team, Machu Picchu participants, and sports and societies that held fundraisers throughout the year."
To have the actions of students recognised at a national level is fantastic. An achievement we couldn't be more proud of. We've got everything crossed for you all.
