Run in the Students’ Union Elections


From the 13th January, you will be able to nominate yourself to become a Student Leader or a Volunteer Officer for the 2020/21 academic year. As well as the five paid Student Leader positons there are also numerous volunteer positions available to students who want to make a positive impact on the experience of students in Lincoln.

Once all the nominations have been submitted, campaigning and voting will begin! This will be your chance to let your fellow students know why you are best for the role and encourage them to vote for you!

Becoming a Student Leader or Volunteer Officer is not only a chance to make a real change for students on campus but will also give you invaluable employability skills for the future.


Student Leaders

We’re excited that this year we are have two brand new Student Leader positions: Vice President Wellbeing and Community and Vice President Campaigns and Environment, along with VP International, VP Activities and VP Education.

Below is an outline of each role, along with the full job description. These roles last for one year and have an annual salary of £20,131.

Vice President Wellbeing and Community

In this role, you will focus on initiatives to enhance and promote the wellbeing of all students and will work with the other Student Leaders and departments of the University to champion wellbeing services on campus. You will also work towards the University’s One Community agenda, promoting the University and the city as a welcoming community for all.

Vice President Campaigns and Environment

In this role, you will lead the Campaigns Network and support them in running campaigns and events that matter to students. This will include supporting them with fundraising and raising awareness of various causes and charities. You will also drive the movement towards a greener campus and SU, by responding to student feedback and championing environmental initiatives.

Vice President Activities

In this role, you will be focus on providing the best experience for all members of sports team, societies and academic societies. This will include helping to organise Varsity, supporting societies with their events and being an advocate for student leading an active and social lifestyle.

Vice President Education

In this role, your focus will be on improving student’s education and their academic experience whilst studying in Lincoln. You will work with a network of Course Reps, School Reps and College Officers to listen to student feedback and take action to make positive changes.

Vice President International

In this role, you will work to create a great experience for all international students studying in Lincoln. To do this, you will work with the International Students’ Association to put on events and campaigns aimed at helping international students feel part of the Lincoln community as well as listening to the views of international students about their experience at University of Lincoln.

Academic Societies Officer

In this role you will act as the representative alongside the Vice President Activities for all students who participate in Academic Societies, ensuring their views are heard by the Union.

In this role you will act as the representative alongside the Vice President Activities for all students who participate in societies, ensuring their views are heard by the Union.

Sports Officer

In this role you will act as the representative alongside the Vice President Activities for all students who participate in sporting activity as part of the Union, whether it be through British Universities and College Sport (BUCS), competitive sport or social sport opportunities, ensuring their views are heard by the Union.

Union Chair

In this role you will act as the neutral Chair for all Students’ Union events, including All Student Members’ Meetings, Accountability Forums and open debates, as well as being responsible for approving SUggestions.

In this role you will act as the neutral Chair for all Students’ Union events, including All Student Members’ Meetings, Accountability Forums and open debates, as well as being responsible for approving SUggestions in the absense of the Union Chair.

The Campaigns Network

RAG Officer

In this role you will lead fundraising activity on behalf of University of Lincoln students, for charities selected annually by the student body.

Environmental Officer

In this role you will represent the students from ULSU on environmental issues, locally, nationally and internationally, ensuring the effective engagement, representation and promotion of students in a given community on relevant environmental issues.

In this role you will lead on supporting the development of a community on campus, and deliver community projects to foster positive student-resident relationships, and celebrate the city.

Campaigns Officers

To lead the promotional activity for their specific demographic group of students, ensuring the effective engagement, representation and promotion of students in a given community; raising awareness of relevant issues, and the availability relevant Campaigns Group.
Each Campaigns Officer will be responsible for one of the following groups of students at the University of Lincoln: LGBT+, Disabilities, Women's, and Black & Minority Ethnicity (BAME).

ISA Officer

In this role you will represent the students from ULSU relating to issues affecting international students. To lead the promotional and support activity of the whole student body surrounding international students, ensuring the effective engagement, representation and promotion of students on relevant issues.
