We Are Lincoln Awards is your Students' Union's way to recognise all of the amazing talent and achievements of the 3,500+ students within our #WeAreLincoln community

If you think you know someone who has gone above and beyond this year, helping others, breaking the boundaries of what was thought to be humanly possible, or anything that fits into any of the below categories, then make sure you nominate them for an award!

 

Sports Personality of the Year & Society Personality of the Year


Awarded to an individual who has worked tirelessly, standing as a key figure in the success and development of their activity, putting in hours of hard work for the benefit of their fellow students. Being an inspiration to others by showing loyalty, dedication and passion towards their activity and its members.

 

Coach of the Year (Michael Beard Award)


This award is to acknowledge consistent service to the Lincoln SU clubs. Nominees will have shown an outstanding contribution to coaching above and beyond what would normally be expected of their role, and stand as a key figure in the success and development of their activity, putting in hours of hard work for the benefit of their fellow students. Being an inspiration to others. This student has shown loyalty, dedication and passion towards their activity and its’ members.

 

Pride of Lincoln Award - Volunteer


Overall individual who has shown outstanding single achievement and brought acclaim to the University. The individual will be involved in the clubs or societies structure or a Volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to developing sport at the university or in the community.  This award will be decided and presented by Simon Parkes.

 

Sports Club of the YearSociety of the Year


Awarded to the activity who have had high levels of participation, been involved in volunteering and the community, raising money for good causes and had an overall positive impact on the student experience.  Has organised a wide range of events throughout the year, has a good working relationship with the SU, been involved with SU campaigns and had good feedback from its members.t the university or in the community.  This award will be decided and presented by Simon Parkes.

 

Academic Society of the Year


Has organised a variety of academic events working with academic departments and course reps and represented their society at the annual expo.

 

Feathers


Acknowledgement of every society who has achieved a feather Bronze/ Silver or Gold across the Academic; Events; Social & Wellbeing; Liberation; Community or Democracy.  All Gold Feather Frames are presented with an additional Award to the Society who has achieved the most Criteria.

 

8 out of 10 Swans Winner


From the 16 teams involved, this Award is presented to the Team who wins the event Final on 12th March 2018.  Thank and acknowledge the 16 teams who participated.

 

Membership Engagement Award


Awarded to the Sports Club or Society that encourages student involvement and engagement on either a sporting/ society and social level. Leading and motivated them throughout 2017/18.

 

Fundraising Award


Awarded to the Sports Club or Society that have raised money through innovative and successful fundraisers in 2017/18.

 

Committee Engagement Award


Awarded to the Sports Club or Society Committee who have not only supported their  student members but also engaged with the University of Lincoln Students’ Union throughout 2017/18.

 

Event of the Year


Awarded to a society who have run a well organised event which had a high level of participation from members and non-members leading to a successful event that was enjoyed by all.

 

Full Colours


This award is given to someone who has gained recognition and brought acclaim to the University of Lincoln by achieving exceptional results in their chosen sport at a National or International level.

  • National Level representation (1st Squad) while also represent the University
  • International Student Squad Selection
  • Selection to International Training Squad (without making Final Squad)

As well as meeting one of the following criteria:

  • BUCS 1st Team playing a Tier 1 or above (Trophy / Championships)
  • BUCS Individual Bronze, Silver or Gold – podium finish
  • Achieved a placing which could be considered exceptional depending on the merits of the event e.g. marathons.

 

Half Colours


This award is given to someone who has achieved a consistently high level of  performance Nationally.  Must meet one of the following criteria while also representing the University:

  • Finalist in an Individual Event
  • National Student Squad Selection
  • BUCS Trophy Finalist

 

New Activity of the Year


This award is given to an activity that formed in the current academic year yet has managed to gain a large amount of members, put on several successful events and got involved in the We Are Lincoln community.
