Award Categories


Course of the Year

For this Award, we ask you to take into account teaching quality, feedback and organisation of the course, and how this has developed over the last year. Does the course you’re nominating stand out as dynamic and offer examples of work which others could take on board?

Society of the Year

This is awarded to the society who has high levels of participation from its members. They will have organised a wide range of events throughout the year and have a good working relationship with the SU, having been involved with SU campaigns and had good feedback from its members. But most importantly, they will have made a positive impact on the student experience.

Academic Society of the Year

For the academic society who has held a wide range of different activities with high levels of participation. They will have evidence of a strong working relationship with both the SU and their relevant academic department, having held successful academic events and have participated in fundraising events. But most importantly, they will have made a positive impact on the student academic experience.

Sports Club of the Year

Awarded to the sports club who have had outstanding performance this academic year, having been involved in volunteering and the community, raising money for good causes and had an overall positive impact on the student experience.

Campaign of the Year

This award is for an individual or group within the student community who have developed and delivered a campaign that is truly student-led. They will have engaged with their peers to raise awareness of a topic or issue. If you know a student who has worked to create a positive impact, which can be felt across the University community, nominate them for a Students’ Union Award.

Volunteer of the Year

This award will recognise a student who has demonstrated a significant and outstanding contribution this year towards building of the student community at the University of Lincoln. Their voluntary efforts could have been through a Student Led Project, RAG, the Campaign Networks, Freshers Week, the International Students Association, an Academic Opportunity, or any other opportunity offered by the Students' Union.

Volunteer Officer of the Year

This award goes to a Volunteer Officer who has shown passion for, and dedication to, their role. This could be through running campaigns, creating events or representing students to the best of their ability. This can be awarded to College Officers, School Reps, Postgraduate Officers, ISA Officer, Campaign Officers, Activities Officers.

Academic Rep of the Year

Course Reps and PG Reps are a vital part of ensuring students get a say in shaping their own degree. This award goes to a Course or PG Rep who has gone the extra mile to represent their fellow course members throughout the year.

Best Student Led Event

This award will be given to recognise a successful student-led event held at the University of Lincoln, which was innovative, community-building, ambitious, highly successful in its aims, or significantly raised awareness of a relevant topic or culture.

Cultural and Diversity Award / “One Community” Award

This will be awarded to an individual student, or group of students, who have made active efforts to promote culture, diversity and inclusivity within the University of Lincoln and it's wider community.

The Inspirational Teacher of the Year

Nominees will be those who’s teaching style or content and the support they offer has inspired students to reach their academic potential. Inspiring teachers are those who challenge and motivate their students, engaging them in meaningful academic activity. In short, they provide teaching that inspires our students to learn and be successful.

Professional Staff Member of the Year

This award is for an individual member of non-academic staff who has worked consistently to enhance the experience of students. This will celebrate those who have been helpful, supportive, approachable and patient and have ultimately positively affected the student experience.

Mary Stuart Award for Student Engagement

This award reflects the excellent work done by the University and Students’ Union to broaden engagement of students and staff in how the University runs and develops its services, schools and campus. If you know someone who has delivered a significant improvement to the University, engaging both staff and students in the process, then nominate them today!

Haydn Biddle's Outstanding Involvement in the Students’ Union Award

This award is for an individual student or group of students who have shown outstanding commitment to the Students’ Union, through participating in or leading Activities including social and competitive sports clubs or societies; or through participating in Volunteering or leading volunteering projects. This award should be used to recognise significant work which has been done by students to create a positive university experience to benefit the student community, the wider community, the environment, or the institution as a whole. Whether they are a committee member of a student group, Academic Rep, Student Buddy or a volunteer within the local community, whatever their role is within The SU, we want to recognise and reward their dedication, commitment and effort.
