Improving Accessibility on Campus for people with Disabilities

1. Lobby the University to place signs encouraging priority to wheelchair users and others with hidden disabilities when accessing lifts
2. Lobby the University to have a good standard of lighting around campus, particularly near the Minerva Building
3. Lobby the University to place yellow or other bright paint on outdoor stairwells to reduce tripping accidents
4. To encourage SU Venues to make all staff more aware of the needs of disabled patrons

Hi Josh,

Just wanted to clarify something, what seems to be the issue with lighting around Minerva? Could you be more specific?

Ashley W.

Point 1 seems like common courtesy to me, I don't believe signs encouraging behaviour will change behaviour. Point 2, could you state the exterior stairwells which are hazards? Only MHT and Minerva have them to my knowledge, they are cordoned, and out of the way. Point 2 could do with consideration for visibly impaired students, and Point 4 in general is a good idea to raise awareness in general.
