Committed to Equality

The ULSU Group is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. As such, we value the opportunities gained from welcoming applications from any race, religion, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, age and national origin.

Preliminary Interviews

The ULSU Group is, and always has been, committed to equality and diversity. As such, we have made 5 commitments to making sure we are a more inclusive organisation. One of these commitments is as follows:

“We will offer all BAME candidates for our student or career staff a guaranteed preliminary interview.”

Separate to the recruitment process, a Preliminary Interview is an opportunity to find out more about the Students’ Union and our values. This is a great way to understanding our culture, and what it would be like to work for the Students’ Union.

We hope that these interviews will encourage applicants from all backgrounds to consider applying for roles at the Students’ Union.

A Preliminary Interview is not part of the recruitment process. It is an opportunity for you to gain interview experience and learn more about what it’s like to work for the Students’ Union.

What happens during a Preliminary Interview?

A Preliminary Interview consists of:

  • Feedback on your CV – this is general feedback, and not specific to any particular role or application.
  • Basic/standard interview questions – again, these questions are not specific to a particular role, however, are designed to give you standard interview experience.
  • You are able to ask questions about the Students’ Union in general, again not role specific. These may concern the working environment, our values and what we do.

How do I apply for a Preliminary Interview?

Anyone can apply for a Preliminary Interview. For more information, please contact: [email protected].
